September, 2011

I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in May, 2000. My problems started a few years before this when I mistreated my body by not eating well while under quite a lot of stress. I remember when I was at university and had to attend lectures being unable to sit in a class for even five minutes because I was going to the toilet more and more each day. I found it very embarrassing and I couldn’t explain what was happening. The funny thing now when I look back is that I now know where every single toilet is on the London Underground. The unknown fear of having accidents and not making it in time to a toilet was overwhelming. I saw several doctors about my constant need to go the toilet with bleeding and they told me to stop eating chilies! I did not stop.

In a very sick condition I went back home to my family and saw my family doctor. He prescribed anti-diarrhea medication which did absolutely nothing. The doctor then gave me daily blood tests which showed that my iron level was dropping at a very scary rate. I was admitted into hospital looking as white as a sheet and feeling lifeless and confused. After doing tests and after my first colonoscopy they told me I had ulcerative colitis. My entire large bowel was ulcerated and bleeding.

The first thing they gave me was a blood transfusion. The nurse spilled half of the bottle on the floor. Then followed intravenous steroids which caused me to want to eat nonstop. In the hospital I had my own private room which didn’t feel so daunting as I had a in-suite bathroom, but, nevertheless, I was going through hell. I stayed there about five weeks in total. I remember surgeons coming to chat to me about the possible consideration of removing my entire bowel. I couldn’t ever let them do that. Over time I was put on lots of drugs: prednisone, asacol and Aziathriopine Nothing was working! The consultant recommended surgery which frightened me, so I took new action.

I went home and I Googled “self-help / healing colitis.” Then I came across Dr. Klein’s http://www.colitis-crohns.com website. I marveled about how he healed himself and thought I had nothing to lose. I was sick and tired of feeling like this and wasn’t able to enjoy my food because of the pain. I ordered Dr. Klein’s book and started!

It was a shock to go from eating what I called a “normal diet.” I invested in a juicer and, implemented a mostly juice diet and starting eating fruit. I threw away my meds and believed this would work. I didn’t tell my consultant at all. Every time I went back to see him I was a little bit better. I had never done anything as challenging as this. I tried to follow the diet as best as I could.

After a year and a half I went back to see my medical consultant who thought I was taking the meds he had prescribed—I was not. After the examination he told me I had healed—he was amazed, believing it was the drugs. I confessed to him that I hadn’t had any meds for almost two years, and he thought I was lying. He now remembers me as his miracle patient!

I can say that now I don’t follow the diet completely but it really did save me. Thank you Dr. Klein!

October, 2011

I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in April of 2011. I was immediately referred to gastroenterological care, but because I lacked medical insurance not a single gastroenterologist where I lived would take me on as a patient. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise.

I began reading books about my Crohn’s to self-treat as best I could. Typically, I came across three kinds of books on the topic. The first kind recommends getting on with standard modern medical treatments, which involve taking powerful dosages of antibiotics, immunosuppressants, and other drugs. They also recommend things like avoiding fibrous foods and other foods that might exacerbate the symptoms. The main person to seek help from here is a gastroenterologist, who is supposed to be the medical authority on intestinal diseases.

The second kind of book recommends alternative approaches to treating Crohn’s. They recommend different kinds of herbs, oils, supplements, probiotics and macrobiotic diets for people with Crohn’s to experiment with. Many of these books recommend seeing a naturopathic doctor.

The third approach I found was an integrative approach. What is really needed, it is claimed, is proper gastroenterological and naturopathic care, and whatever other care you might feel you need.  Human bodies are unique, they stated, and need to be experimented with, and one who has an intestinal disease cannot afford not to see medical professionals. Gastroenterologists and naturopathic doctors can work symbiotically to maximize proper treatments. One can take dosages of drugs that her gastroenterologist prescribes, and one can also take the herbs, oils, supplements, and probiotics that her naturopathic doctor recommends, etc.

I dabbled for a week or so with some recommendations that I could get from my local health food store, but these made my symptoms worsen. I did not want to go the modern medical route, and could not anyway due to my lack of medical insurance. Accordingly, the integrative approach seemed hopeless.

One night I went online to see if there were more books I could check out.  I found Dr. Klein’s book, Self-Healing for Colitis and Crohn’s. As I began reading it I had a feeling that Dr. Klein was speaking truth. There was something about the presentation, the arguments, the Natural Hygiene philosophy that made so much intuitive sense and, perhaps more importantly, made me trust Dr. Klein’s teaching. He had been through severe ulcerative colitis himself, he reversed his condition, and, inspiringly, went on to find true health. This was important for me. He did not, as I had read in so many testimonials in other books, keep his condition in check for a while only to experience future flare-ups or go through what seemed to be the usual cycles of colitis. He was able to reverse his condition indefinitely.  And, the results were immediate.

I followed Dr. Klein’s advice. Overnight, I became a low-fat, high carb (fruit!), raw vegan, following food combining principles and putting his teachings into practice. On the second day I was eating fruit without pain!  I hadn’t eaten without pain for months!

Over time, I began to internalize his teachings, and after a month or so I jo longer felt pain in my ileum and the inflammation seemed to have run its natural healing course.  I was able to eat more and more fruit and some tender vegetables. Six months later, as I write this, my health has never been better. I am still following Dr. Klein’s principles and am not looking back!  I have found true health.

I thank you so much Dr. Klein!  You truly helped me when I was in great need. My debt to you and your work is great indeed.

With gratitude,

September, 2011

I would like to join the hundreds of people who have thanked you for helping me out with your great book, Self Healing Colitis & Crohns.  I had been diagnosed with light gastritis since 2006. Then, during the month of August of this year, I began experiencing an increasing bloating problem. It culminated in a bout of violent vomiting one night and a trip to the emergency room. The doctor, once he saw that I could keep down food, released me and told me to see a G.I. specialist. He wrote the diagnosis “colitis” on my release papers.

I was disappointed with that the G.I. doctor could not see me for four weeks. Suffering and in pain, I took a three-hour trip to San Luis, Rio Colorado, Mexico. The small-town doctor I saw was able to calm my symptoms and help me with some guidance. She put me on antibiotics, anti-diarrhea, lactobacillus acidophilus, and pain reliever pills. I went home thinking this regimen would work. I don’t believe it did.  Now, this is where you come in.

I was searching online as best as I could, being that I was on the john ever hour for three days! I was so exhausted during those days. After reading pieces of your advice from your http://www.colitis-crohns.com website, I dropped the pills and ate only banana, and peeled apples and pears. The bloody stools went away in less that two days! By the fourth day,I was eating solid food with no symptoms of colitis. This was in view of my family who was against a pure fruit diet.

During week two of the healing stage I had regained my strength. At the end of the week I had an appointment with my doctor in Mexico again to check my blood work and see how I was coming along. The colitis was gone!

I give thanks to God, foremost, and to you, Dr. David Klein for the insight and wisdom of your work. I am now symptom-free and feel great. I have no more morning stomach pains, the bloating is gone and my stomach doesn’t swell or get sour after eating.

I pray that I can recommend your words and wisdom to any who may come my way and to family, friends, and others. God bless you.

Respectfully,

August, 2011

I am writing to let you know how much your diet has helped me heal from Crohn’s disease. I have been following your diet plan since April, 2011 and have had experienced nothing but improvement since then. When I decided to try your diet I was unable to attend university, was struggling to work half-day weeks and spent most of my time in bed. I suffered from painful digestion, stabbing intestinal pains, bloody stools, chronic diarrhoea, potassium deficiency, adrenal exhaustion, gastric reflux, chronic fatigue and chronic dizziness.

After trying all the usual harmful medical treatments, i.e. steroids, anti-inflammatories etc., with no success (in fact, they just made things worse) as well as naturopathic supplements and a high protein and fat diet, I have found your diet plan to be the only 100% successful and side-effect-free way to overcome Crohn’s disease. Moreover, by living more in accordance with the principles of Natural Hygiene I feel healthier and more vibrant than before I got sick!

Eating a diet consisting of fresh, organic fruit and vegetables has improved my mood and outlook on life. My skin has cleared up, my digestion is greatly improved (provided I combine foods properly), I scarcely need to use shampoo and have healthy, glowing hair, I have more energy and muscular endurance, clarity of mind and my weight has returned to normal (after being slightly underweight when I was sick).

The most profound change, however, is the empowering knowledge that I have healed myself naturally without any supplements, drugs or modalities. I now live according to the principles of the 80/10/10 diet and am working on improving my fitness and incorporating more sport into my lifestyle. I could not have had all this success without your guidance Dr. Dave, and I am eternally grateful for your work.

Best wishes to you.

July, 2011

I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis when I was 20. I remember how crushed I felt when the doctor told me there’s no cure, that I need to be screened for cancer every year and that it would be likely that I would need surgery in the next 10 years. I tried several medications, but the side effects were so horrible that I decided I would just rather deal with the pain. There were so many days that I skipped eating just so I could avoid a bowel movement. It was disabling both physically and mentally.

At some point I was told that not eating animal products could ease the pain. This sparked my curiosity. I searched “vegan ulcerative colitis” on Google and came to Dr. David Klein’s website. I was very skeptical. It was contrary to everything the specialists told me. However, after one too many weeks of being in agony, I didn’t care anymore and was willing to try anything.

At the time I was eating the Standard American Diet including lots of meat and cheese, refined grains and processed food with not very much fresh produce. I ordered and followed Dr. Klein’s Self Healing Colitis & Crohn’s book and gradually incorporated healthful practices into my life and started feeling much better at a surprisingly fast rate.

After several weeks I was having normal, healthy bowel movements again. Eventually I became as fit as my former 16 year-old self. I felt better than I had in my entire life and am ever grateful.

Thank you so much, Dr. Klein!

“Self Healing Colitis & Crohn’s belongs on the Wikipedia page for IBD.”

February, 2011

Hi Dr. Dave,

I’m feeling great today and I was finally able to move my bowels.

Also, my “body-talk” appointment was great. Everything the practitioner said and did went along with your book and my self-healing body’s wisdom.

Everything is wonderful right now. I swear, your book belongs on the Wikipedia page for IBD.

Nothing but love and praises for you!

We Possess Self-healing Bodies and Were Not Meant to Suffer!

We Possess Self-healing Bodies and Were Not Meant to Suffer!

by Dr. David Klein, author of Self Healing Colitis & Crohn’s and director of the Colitis & Crohn’s Health Recovery Center.
http://www.colitis-crohns.com

We were not designed or born into this world to be sick with inflamed bowels. Our genes do not cause us to become sick with inflammatory bowel disease, but, rather, our diets, lifestyles and thoughts are the causes—and they can all be corrected and we can and will heal if we implement the right healing plan.

The body is a perfectly designed self-healing organism. Bowel inflammation is not a runaway problem but a sign that the body has been harmed and is vigorously attempting to heal itself, and it will gratefully do so if the causes of disease are discontinued and the biological requisites of health are provided. The solution to bowel disease is to identify the harmful factors, discontinue them and implement a new healthful lifestyle with health-promoting practices.

A few million people have done this, overcoming all kinds of debilitating disease conditions, including inflammatory and irritable bowel diseases—and so can you! Contrary to conventional belief, there is no mystery behind why we become sick and there is no lack of understanding of how to overcome disease, heal and rejuvenate. Those who have applied the Natural Hygiene system of self-healthcare have overcome diseases which include colitis, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, ileitis, irritable bowel syndrome and every other gastrointestinal malady humanity has ever experienced, including some cases of cancer.

My book Self Healing Colitis & Crohn’s a specialized Hygienic healing plan for those who wish to overcome bowel disease and create disease-free vigorous health. All of this information is not based upon theories or anything that the author invented. Hygienic healing, i.e., cooperating with nature, removing the causes of disease and fulfilling our biological requisites for health, is the way that all creatures have always healed and recovered their health.

By deeply delving into these new teachings, letting go of erroneous beliefs, and embracing a new naturally healthful course of action, anyone can dramatically improve his or her condition, and most can go on to master their health and avoid inflammatory bowel problems for the rest of their lives.

With proper understanding, help and passionate intention, the goal of disease-free health can be achieved. It takes dedication, work and patience, but it only gets better and better when one immerses oneself in it mind, body and soul. I know—I did it, over 2,000 of my clients have done it, and I will be glad to help you or yours get well and stay well!

Immensely sad news: Obama administration starting a $billion drug development center

After reading today’s immensely sad news that the Obama administration has decided to start a billion-dollar government drug development center, I can only think that Mr. Obama and the world need to know that Natural Hygiene self-healing/health education is the far better alternative. People need to discover the University of Natural Health http://www.vibranthealthandwealth.com/university.html and read publications on Natural Hygiene by Dr. Hebert M. Shelton, myself and others (http://www.colitis-crohns.com/book.html, http://www.vibranthealthandwealth.com/bookstore/, http://www.vibrancemagazine.com).

The advent of new drugs used to combat colitis, Crohn’s and other gastrointestinal and digestive diseases has only made people sicker and made it more difficult for them to self-heal. In recent years, hundreds of clients have come to me after their colons and general health were severely damaged by antibiotics and Accutane — they are extreme poisons and are too often ruinous. Their habitual use can cause irreparable damage. Are they ever necessary? Certainly not! We cannot poison ourselves to health!

“Anti-biotic” means “anti-life.” Antibiotic drugs circulate throughout our bodies and cripple, weaken or destroy the mechanisms of ALL cells, not only the bacteria in the gut. They are similar to insecticides and fungicides. “Bad” bacteria do not actually cause inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD); they merely consume toxic matter, the rubbish which results under unhealthful eating habits. There is no reason to kill the “bad” bacteria; they will be flushed out of the body when we change to a healthful diet, as taught in Self Healing Colitis & Crohn’s. If we use drugs to kill them, we will poison our entire body. When people improve after antibiotic use, the body accomplished any healing on its own despite the extra toxic load of the drugs. Only the body can heal itself!

The new trend in medical treatment for inflammatory bowel disease is immunosuppressants. Our “immune system” is our God-given defense system, our “guardian angel brigade.” Does it ever make sense to suppress the body’s self-healing/self-preservation/health-restorative mechanisms? No! Our immune system never does us harm — that notion is a grave medical misunderstanding. The immune system is only hyperactive when our body is extremely toxic; the immune system’s cells only work to break down (detoxify) the toxic matter in the bloodstream and in toxin-saturated tissues. The “auto-immune” theory is false; the body never “attacks” itself for no reason but, rather, the immune cells break down toxins and dead cells for disposal. We cannot create health by suppressing our self-healing mechanisms with drugs; in all cases we want the immune system to work at full strength at all times. Immunosuppressants weaken our God-given life force, suppressing symptoms, but they have no ability to heal us — they only interfere with healing and drag us down further into the abyss. Healing cannot take place in a body that is defiled with immunosuppressants.

Via the immune system and other physiological equipment and processes, the body can and will detoxify on its own and restore health if we stop poisoning it with toxic foods and drugs and get onto a wholistic health program. To heal we must eliminate the causes of disease. Self Healing Colitis & Crohn’s teaches how to identify the causes of IBD and replace them with biologically-correct, health-promoting lifestyle habits. The self-healing program taught in Self Healing Colitis & Crohn’s is time-honored; it has proven to be effective because it is grounded in a proper understanding of our biological, physiological, psychological and spiritual needs and it is based upon the laws of nature. Those who’ve read the book can request my assistance and I will happily guide them to health. I do this almost every week, year-round, and the results are typically superb.

I and other Hygienic Doctors teach Natural Hygiene: the science and fine art of healing naturally and living healthfully. With special care, all forms of IBD and most other diseases will self-heal, and most people can attain new long-lasting vibrant health, free of disease and medical intervention. I wish this for you and everyone.

Yours for true health education,

Dr. David Klein

Chronic Colitis Healed With the Help of a Friend

Chronic Colitis Healed With the Help of a Friend
by Tanya Sodini

As I reflect on my journey through the past few years, I can finally say that the guiding conduits have led me to a place of both mental and physical health. With a new mindset of health, awareness and motivation, I am officially celebrating a new life at the age of 32. As I speak of conduits, I refer most importantly to Dr. David Klein, whose guidance has given me the tools to transform my life though a gradual change to a vegan diet. I am sharing my story not only to speak of my success, but also as a voice of hope for all those who yearn for the chance to live a healthy life.

People commonly view health as a black-and-white state; this cannot account for the dynamics that go with chronic diseases, as I experienced in my battle with colitis. My poor energy, anxiety, and chronic dry eye were all presented to healthcare providers who typically prescribed pills to alleviate my symptoms. Each symptom was treated independently of the others, with complete disregard for the Occam’s Razor concept of simplicity. Living a healthy life means being in a state of wholesomeness on every level, resulting in harmony of both body and mind.

In December 2008, I received a confirmatory diagnosis of chronic colitis. While I was relieved that my problem was not of a more serious nature, a sadness crept into my psyche, since at that time, all I knew was the conventional “wisdom” that colitis was a chronic condition with no known cause or cure. Eventually, I was put on a treatment regimen that involved a prescription for Mesalamine (a medicated foam enema indicated for the treatment of inflammation), the instructions to avoid spicy food, and to call back when I needed a prescriptive refill. With strict adherence to the doctor’s recommendations, my colitis symptoms subsided for what I thought would be forever.

Unfortunately, a few weeks later, my symptoms, which included the false urges associated with an impending bowl movement and rectal bleeding, came back worse than ever before. The intense pain left me paralyzed in fear as I realized that the treatment was no longer working. After hours of research for anything that could give me hope, I had to face the fact that the next medical intervention to treat my colitis would be systemic corticosteroids. That is when I snapped.

Unwilling to put any more pharmaceutical products in my system, I went on a desperate search to find a single soul that could give me hope and tell me that I didn’t have to live with this forever.  Already at my wits’ end, I knew I didn’t want to live this way, and so continued to search for answers, willing to try any rational path that would lead me to health.  After my long, draining search, I came across a colitis web forum where someone had written: “try reading Self Healing Colitis and Crohn’s by Dr. David Klein.” Skeptical but desperate, I immediately bought the book. As the proud mother of two daughters, I was willing do anything to be healthy enough to take care of them.

I ordered the book, and as I started reading, I was very encouraged by the philosophy, but then I realized what this man was asking of me. Was this guy crazy? I thought: “He is asking me to change my life in ways I never expected!”

At that point I remembered the promise I made to myself, for my children: “Whatever it takes.” So, I started by immediately stopping all prescription drugs, to the dismay of my skeptical friends and family. I took the chance that all of Dr. Klein’s self-healing teachings were correct, and took the plunge.

With a few setbacks, I have followed the Vegan Healing Diet Plan that Dr. Klein outlined. My moments of weakness were due to the pressure from the people me–they were concerned about my drastic change in diet. Through my time adhering to the diet, I would have moments of doubt. Maybe this book was wrong or maybe it was right but wouldn’t work for me. Was I really going to heal if I followed a diet of fresh fruit and steamed veggies? The principles all made perfect sense, but would I actually experience the self-healing powers of my own body? The answer was an emphatic “YES!”

The diet was working just as Dr. Klein had promised. Cutting out all toxic substances, including salt, has enabled me to heal and become healthy. My only regret is that the journey to health would have happened much sooner, had I not resisted some of Dr. Klein’s teachings due to peer pressure. I think a healthy support system is key to healing—Dr. Klein emphasizes this point in his book.

Although I am now completely healed, I can tell you that symptomatic relief is only the tip of the iceberg. As I previously mentioned, prior to the onset of colitis, I had a myriad of other health issues. As in the principle of Occam’s Razor, my change in diet was the simple answer to all my questions. I have more energy than I have had in 13 years, and my anxiety and chronic dry eye are both a distant memory. The most important gift I received from reading this book is the gift of knowledge. Colitis has ended up being my blessing in disguise, the means to a greater end in my life. I now have the tools to remain in perpetual good health, and I am in control!

My total healing teaches me the lesson that we do not have to learn the hard way. I implore you not wait until you’re sick until you begin practicing the principles of health.  Prevention via healthful living is the key. And eating right is not just an ideal, but rather a mindset. You have to grasp that your diet and health choices are crucial to your quality of life. Two resounding points that the book stresses are self-healing and enervation. Everyone should stop and evaluate their daily lifestyle, making modifications  to counter and eliminate energy-draining patterns.

Most of us live without the consciousness of how our daily choices and habits affect our health, until we have to “pay the piper” in the form of illness.  In retrospect, I am almost shocked that I didn’t get an even more devastating illness. For starters, I used to take vitamin pills rather than getting the proper nutrition from fruits and vegetables. I didn’t think of food combinations, eating whenever and whatever my heart desired, in any order I pleased. I used to think that symptoms of gastric problems, such as bloating, were a normal part of digestion. My pace of eating was excessively rapid, preventing adequate time for proper digestion enzyme action.

Upon reading what Dr. Klein said about chewing 30 times for each bite of food, I tested myself to see how much of it I was doing at that point. I was not even close—in fact, I seldom chewed even four times! Very pathetic, I know.

Along with the fact that I live in the desert (Las Vegas), my lack of fruit consumption contributed to a constant state of dehydration. My love of salty and processed foods compounded the problem of fluid imbalance.

Although I could rave on about my glorious new state of health, I will spare you the rest of the details as I am still bemused by the number of bad habits that I had to address to resolve my health issues and reach this point to share my story.

It is the best feeling to be able to close the door on my illness.  Many new doors have opened, following my healing. It’s a bit ironic that I came close to making nutrition my major in college. I feel lucky that I came back to it at what was perhaps the most crucial time in my life. If it were not for the support of Dr. Klein, I would not be here writing my story.

I’m amazed at my luck in stumbling upon this life-changing information. I now know that the vegan diet is the optimum one for true health, and the one we were designed to eat.

Please join me in my celebration and give yourself a second chance at a new life.

Dr. Klein, thank you from the bottom of my heart! I could not have done it without you. Thank you for your book, which has changed thousands of peoples’ lives. You are an inspiration!
